Shark Bud

What if, instead of being motivated to complete a task, you were forced to do it?

Introduction

Originally conceptualized as an entry for a design competition. Shark Buddy had legs on it to become a real (in theory) product that helps people complete their tasks.

Problems and Goals

With all the materials and resources at their disposal, people still have a hard time ticking off things from their to-do lists.

Concept Development

In the popular book Atomic Habits, there is a tip for having an accountability buddy. Someone that you know personally that will check in on you to see that everything going smoothly. The main problem with having an accountability buddy is that no one is holding them responsible for holding you responsible.

I wanted the app to have 2 goals: 1) it has to be easy to create a recurring task to be done. 2) Make it even easier to mark a task fulfilled. With this, I also needed a reason for users to open the app again.

Branding Elements

For branding, we heavily rely on the colors and the shark designs. Sharks aren’t cute by themself, but with shape language and goofy anatomy they become a lovable pet you have to feed.
